Budapest Information
Budapest is quite simply fantastic in all seasons. Whether you want vibrant culture, compelling history, soothing health spas, sumptuous food and wine, breathtaking nightlife or world-class shopping the Hungarian capital has it all in abundance. At the Heart of it All
And remember, only DentEast.ie is located right at the heart of it all, within easy reach of places such as Vaci Utca in the historic downtown centre of the city. Together with its neighbouring streets, Váci utca is the chief shopping street of Budapest, with many gift and Fashion shops, restaurants and popular cafes. The Castle District
Alongside the river, the Castle district in Buda is the ancient kernel of the capital's right-bank settlement. Inside the ramparts which completely encircle Castle Hill, the whole area is protected as an ancient monument: the lines of the streets and the foundations and architectural remains of the buildings retain the atmosphere and memories of the medieval and eighteenth and nineteenth-century capital.Parliaments and Markets
The Parliament
Hungary’s famous and striking parliament building is also situated along the Danube embankment as is Budapest’s renowned Grand Market. Built in 1890 the market is the largest and richest indoor food market in Hungary with everything from salami to goose liver available.Famous Health Spas
The Gellert
Another must do is the Gellert Hotel and spa. No trip to Budapest is complete without an afternoon in the city’s ancient and soothing thermal waters and a massage or two. Above the hotel and spa, the Gellert Hill rises sharply above the Danube offering fantastic panoramic views of the city for the price of a 15 minute uphill hike.Further Afield
Although there is plenty to see within walking distance, Budapest’s extensive tram and metro system will get you easily about the city should you wish to venture further afield. Some attractions within a ten minute tram ride include Hero’s Square which is surrounded by art galleries and museums.Close to the Hero’s Square is one of Budapest’s newest and most compelling museums – the House Of Terror. The chilling and emotive exhibition – in the building which housed the Nazi’s HQ and later the Communist secret police - portrays the reign of terror and torture perpetrated by the two oppressive regimes. It is a chilling reminder of how raw history can still be in Budapest.
